Quick Facts
Chinese clothing sizes are written as a code from the national standard GB/T 1335: 165/88A means height 165 cm, bust or chest 88 cm and body type A. On trousers the second number is the waist. The letters (S, M, L) vary by brand, so read the numbers and measure yourself in cm.
The US, UK and EU sizes on this page come from Nike’s charts, plus Adidas for shoes and US children’s retailers for kids. At Nike, a women’s China L (165/88A) is a US 8. For men’s tops and trousers there is no dependable US pairing, so those tables give chest, waist and hips in cm and inches.
Brands differ. Compare your measurements in cm with the listing’s own size chart, and check whether it lists body or garment measurements.

Women’s tops
Read across from your China size, or from your US, UK or EU size; the second table gives the bust for each size.
| China | China code | US | UK | EU |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| XXS | 145/72A | 0 | 4 | 32 |
| XS | 150/76A | 2 | 6 | 34 |
| S | 155/80A | 4 | 8 | 36 |
| M | 160/84A | 6 | 10 | 38 |
| L | 165/88A | 8 | 12 | 40 |
| XL | 170/92A | 10 | 14 | 42 |
| XXL | 175/96A | 12 | 16 | 44 |
| China | Bust (cm) | Bust (in) |
|---|---|---|
| XXS | 72 | 28.3 |
| XS | 76 | 29.9 |
| S | 80 | 31.5 |
| M | 84 | 33.1 |
| L | 88 | 34.6 |
| XL | 92 | 36.2 |
| XXL | 96 | 37.8 |
Nike’s pairing is not an exact measurement match. By body bust alone, 88 cm (34.6 in) sits between US 6 (34 in) and US 8 (35.5 in), so allow one size either way.
Women’s trousers
Read across from your China size, or from your US, UK or EU size; the second table gives waist and hips for each size.
| China | China code | US | UK | EU |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| XXS | 145/54A | 0 | 4 | 32 |
| XS | 150/58A | 2 | 6 | 34 |
| S | 155/62A | 4 | 8 | 36 |
| M | 160/66A | 6 | 10 | 38 |
| L | 165/70A | 8 | 12 | 40 |
| XL | 170/74A | 10 | 14 | 42 |
| XXL | 175/78A | 12 | 16 | 44 |

|---|---|---|---|---|
| XXS | 54 | 21.3 | 83.8–86.4 | 33–34 |
| XS | 58 | 22.8 | 86.4–88.9 | 34–35 |
| S | 62 | 24.4 | 88.9–92.7 | 35–36.5 |

| XXL | 78 | 30.7 | 106.7–111.8 | 42–44 |
Nike pairs trousers by hip. Matching by waist alone gives a US number about two lower: a 160/66A waist of 26.0 in matches US 4, while Nike pairs 160/66A with US 6.
Men’s clothing sizes
Men’s tops
Find your China size in the first column; the chest is the second number of the code.
| China | China code | Chest (cm) | Chest (in) |
|---|---|---|---|
| XXS | 155/76A | 76 | 29.9 |
| XS | 160/80A | 80 | 31.5 |
| S | 165/84A | 84 | 33.1 |
| M | 170/88A | 88 | 34.6 |
| L | 175/92A | 92 | 36.2 |
| XL | 180/96A | 96 | 37.8 |
| XXL | 185/100A | 100 | 39.4 |
| 3XL | 190/104A | 104 | 40.9 |
| 4XL | 195/108A | 108 | 42.5 |
| 5XL | 200/112A | 112 | 44.1 |
There is no US column for men’s tops, because the US letters can only be worked out from chest measurements. Matching chest in inches to Nike US’s chart, a US M (37.5–41 in) covers China XL to 3XL, and China M (34.6 in) sits at the top of US XS (31.5–35 in).
Men’s trousers
Find your China size in the first column; the waist is the second number of the code. Chinese trouser codes give height and waist, not inseam.
| China | China code | Waist (cm) | Waist (in) | Hips (cm) | Hips (in) |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| XXS | 155/64A | 64 | 25.2 | under 81.3 | under 32 |
| XS | 160/68A | 68 | 26.8 | 81.3–86.4 | 32–34 |
| S | 165/72A | 72 | 28.3 | 86.4–91.4 | 34–36 |
| M | 170/76A | 76 | 29.9 | 91.4–96.5 | 36–38 |
| L | 175/80A | 80 | 31.5 | 96.5–101.6 | 38–40 |
| XL | 180/84A | 84 | 33.1 | 101.6–106.7 | 40–42 |
| XXL | 185/88A | 88 | 34.6 | 106.7–111.8 | 42–44 |
| 3XL | 190/92A | 92 | 36.2 | 111.8–118.1 | 44–46.5 |
| 4XL | 195/96A | 96 | 37.8 | 118.1–123.2 | 46.5–48.5 |
| 5XL | 200/100A | 100 | 39.4 | over 123.2 | over 48.5 |
There is no US column for men’s trousers. Nike China pairs these letters with US numbers by hip, while Nike US’s numeric chart goes by waist, and the two disagree by 2–4 sizes from 170/76A up. Check both waist and hips against the seller’s chart.
Children’s clothing sizes
Under the national standard, Chinese children’s sizes are heights in cm, not ages. Pick the size that matches your child’s height; between two sizes, take the larger.
| China | Height (cm) | Height (in) | US |
|---|---|---|---|
| 73 | 73 | 28.7 | 6–9M |
| 80 | 80 | 31.5 | 12–18M |
| 90 | 90 | 35.4 | 3T |
| 100 | 100 | 39.4 | 4T |
| 110 | 110 | 43.3 | 5T |
| 120 | 120 | 47.2 | 6X/7 |
| 130 | 130 | 51.2 | 8 |
| 135 | 135 | 53.1 | 10 |
| 140 | 140 | 55.1 | 10/12 |
| 145 | 145 | 57.1 | 12 |
| 150 | 150 | 59.1 | 14 |
| 155 | 155 | 61.0 | 14/16 |
| 160 | 160 | 63.0 | 18 |
Sizes 73 and 80 are infant sizes; the standard also has 52, 59 and 66, which have no US pairing here. Brands differ: Nike China pairs US 6 with 120 and US 6X/7 with 130, and Balabala’s size number is the top of a height band (its 110 fits 100–110 cm). Follow the seller’s height chart.
Shoe sizes
The first two tables follow Nike China’s charts. Don’t read Nike China’s mm figure as your foot length: at the three men’s sizes compared, it runs 4–13 mm above the foot length Nike US prints. Its men’s and women’s charts also give the same shoe different lengths (a men’s US 7 and a women’s US 8.5 are 250 mm in one chart and 255 mm in the other), so use the table for the shoe’s own line. The China number (码) equals the EU size only near 40. Measure your foot and compare it with the seller’s chart.

Children’s shoes
Chinese brands number children’s shoes in different ways (Balabala’s China size equals its EU size), so this table has no China column. Even the EU number varies: EU 27 is a 15.6 cm foot at Balabala, 16.1 cm at Adidas and 16.7 cm at Nike.

How to measure
Measure your body in cm, then compare the numbers with the code or with the seller’s size chart.
Check a listing
Sellers often list the garment’s own measurements; this tool compares them with yours.
Tips for ordering from Chinese stores
- Measure in cm. Take your bust or chest, waist, hips or foot length and compare them with the seller’s chart rather than with a converted letter.
- Body or garment. Check whether the chart lists body measurements or the garment’s own. Garments add ease to the body measurement.
- Brands differ. Letters and US, UK and EU numbers change between brands, and even Nike China’s men’s and women’s shoe charts give different lengths for the same shoe. Use the listing’s own chart.
- Between two sizes, size up. For children, follow the seller’s height chart; Nike China’s kids’ sizes run above Nike’s own US height bands.
- Shoes: measure your foot. Nike China’s mm figure should not be read as a measured foot length, so compare your own foot length with the seller’s chart.
